According to the existing policy of the government, all the peaks below 6500 meters of altitude are considered as trekking peaks. Such mountains in an open zone can be attempted without any permit. However, for the peaks fall in the restricted zone, a trekking permit is required. Though there are hundreds of peaks between 5000 meters to 6500 meters but brief details of some popular trekking peaks are given below:
