The Reward of Umrah in Ramadan

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj  or Hajj with me.” – Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 1863 | Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1256

For millions of Muslims around the world, Ramadan Umrah is not simply a pilgrimage  it is the closest experience to Hajj that most of us will ever perform in our lifetime. The atmosphere in Makkah during Ramadan is unlike any other time of year. The Haram is filled with the sound of Quran, the air is heavy with du’a, and the sense of collective worship  hundreds of thousands of Muslims fasting and praying together in the most sacred place on earth — is a spiritual experience that pilgrims describe as life-changing.

The last 10 nights of Ramadan intensify this further. On one of these nights — Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Power  worship is worth more than 83 years of continuous ibadah. Being in Makkah for this night, making Tawaf around the Kaaba and performing qiyam in the Haram, is among the greatest gifts any Muslim can give themselves.

Why Ramadan Umrah Is Different  What to Expect

Many pilgrims perform Umrah for the first time during Ramadan, drawn by the exceptional spiritual reward. Here is what makes the experience distinct from regular season Umrah — and how to prepare for it:

The Haram During Ramadan

Masjid al-Haram during Ramadan is the most crowded it will be all year. Millions of pilgrims converge on Makkah from across the world. The Tawaf area is exceptionally busy — particularly in the final 10 nights when the upper floors and outer circuits are packed well before Taraweeh begins. This is not a challenge — it is part of the experience. The energy of that many Muslims worshipping together is something no description can fully convey.

Practical note: Tawaf is most manageable in the hours between Fajr and sunrise, and in the early hours after midnight (between 1am and 4am). Many experienced Ramadan pilgrims prefer these times. Your personal Umrah guide (included in 5-star packages) will advise on the least congested times based on your specific dates.

Taraweeh in the Haram

Taraweeh prayers in Masjid al-Haram during Ramadan are led by the world’s most celebrated Quran reciters  Sheikh Maher al-Muaiqly, Sheikh Abdurrahman al-Sudais, and Sheikh Bandar Baleelah. Attending Taraweeh in the Haram  even once  is a memory that pilgrims carry for the rest of their lives. Most packages allow 5–10 nights of Taraweeh in the Haram.

Suhoor and Iftar in Makkah

Iftar in Makkah is unlike any Iftar anywhere in the world. The entire Haram and its surrounding plazas fill with pilgrims breaking their fast together. The Saudi government distributes dates and water, local volunteers bring additional food, and the call to Maghrib echoes across one of the most sacred spaces on earth. This moment  breaking your fast steps from the Kaaba  is one that Ramadan Umrah pilgrims consistently describe as the most moving of the entire journey.

Suhoor at your hotel is straightforward. All hotels in our programme serve pre-dawn meals. 5-star hotels offer full buffet Suhoor; economy hotels offer a basic Suhoor spread. If you are staying at Fairmont or Raffles, you can eat Suhoor while looking at the Kaaba from your window.

The Last 10 Nights — Ashra-e-Akhira

The last 10 nights of Ramadan are the reason our Last 10 Nights packages sell out first, every year, without exception. The Prophet ﷺ would increase his worship dramatically during these nights, and Muslims around the world do the same. In Makkah, these nights are extraordinary — the Haram overflows at every prayer time, the recitation of Quran never stops, and pilgrims make du’a through the night with a collective intensity that is felt physically.

Laylat al-Qadr -the Night of Power falls on one of the odd nights of the last 10. The 27th night is most widely observed. On this night, a pilgrim performing Nawafil Tawaf around the Kaaba and making Sujood in the Haram is worshipping in a night worth more than 83 years. There is no greater spiritual opportunity available to any Muslim outside of Hajj.If you can only afford one upgrade in your life  make it this one.

Ramadan Umrah Package Options -What is Included

  • 4-star hotel Madinah (100–300m from Nabawi)
  • Daily breakfast (Suhoor and regular breakfast)
  • Makkah Ziarat guided tour
  • Closer hotel reduces dependency on shuttle for late-night Taraweeh visits

5-Star Luxury Ramadan Package (PKR 650,000)

Why 5-star matters more during Ramadan: During regular Umrah, walking 10 minutes to the Haram is a minor inconvenience. How to Prepare for Ramadan Umrah — Practical Checklist

Before you travel:

  • ✅ Revise the complete steps of Umrah — Tawaf, Sa’i, Ihram rules, and prohibited acts in Ihram
  • ✅ Memorise or print key duas for Tawaf, Sa’i, and general worship in the Haram
  • ✅ Prepare physically — Ramadan Umrah while fasting requires endurance; begin walking regularly 4–6 weeks before departure
  • ✅ Pack light — you will be walking significantly more than regular season; avoid heavy luggage
  • ✅ Bring Ihram clothes (2 sets recommended), comfortable flat sandals, and a light prayer rug
  • ✅ Carry meningitis vaccination certificate (required for Saudi entry)

In Makkah during Ramadan:

  • ✅ Perform Tawaf in the early hours (1am–4am) or immediately after Fajr for less congestion
  • ✅ Stay hydrated between Iftar and Suhoor — Makkah even in February–March can be warm
  • ✅ Keep your hotel room key card and our on-ground WhatsApp number on you at all times
  • ✅ The Haram expansion means the Tawaf area is now much larger — do not be discouraged by crowds
  • ✅ Attend every Taraweeh you can manage — even if you cannot complete all 20 rakaat

Frequently Asked Questions  Ramadan Umrah 2027

When is Ramadan 2027?

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on approximately 28 February 2027 and end on 29 March 2027, subject to official Saudi moon sighting. The last 10 nights begin around 19 March 2027. Laylat al-Qadr (27th night) falls approximately on 25 March 2027. All dates are subject to moon sighting confirmation.

Why is Umrah in Ramadan so special?

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj with me.” (Sahih Bukhari, 1863). Performing Umrah during the most blessed month of the Islamic year, in the most sacred place on earth, while fasting and surrounded by millions of Muslims doing the same there is no spiritual experience comparable to it outside of Hajj itself.

What is the price of Ramadan Umrah packages 2027?

Economy Ramadan packages start from PKR 280,000 per person for 10 days including return airfare, Umrah visa, and 3-star hotel. Standard 14-day packages from PKR 360,000. Luxury 5-star packages from PKR 650,000. Last 10 nights 5-star packages from PKR 820,000. All prices are current early-booking rates and will increase as Ramadan 2027 approaches.

When should I book Ramadan Umrah 2027?

Book immediately. Ramadan 2027 is only 9 months away and packages  especially last 10 nights  are already being reserved. Hotels in Makkah are allocated to tour operators well in advance. Prices increase by 20–40% in January 2027. Every month you wait costs money and reduces your options.

What are the last 10 nights of Ramadan 2027 dates?

The last 10 nights of Ramadan 2027 are expected to begin around 19–20 March 2027. The 27th night of Ramadan (Laylat al-Qadr) falls approximately on 25 March 2027. All dates subject to official moon sighting.

How crowded is Makkah during Ramadan?

Makkah during Ramadan is the busiest it will be all year. The Haram and surrounding areas are extremely crowded, especially during Iftar, Taraweeh, and the last 10 nights. This is manageable with the right hotel proximity and timing guidance from your Umrah guide. Pilgrims who have experienced both regular and Ramadan Umrah universally describe the Ramadan experience as far more spiritually powerful despite  or because of  the crowds.

Is Ramadan Umrah suitable for elderly pilgrims?

Yes, but we recommend the 5-star package for elderly pilgrims during Ramadan specifically. The crowds are larger than regular season, which means the benefits of hotel proximity (50 metres from Haram vs 1.5km), private transport, and a personal guide are multiplied significantly. Elderly pilgrims on economy packages during Ramadan face real challenges with the shuttle timing and crowd management. Invest in their comfort the Fairmont or Swissotel makes Ramadan Umrah genuinely peaceful for elderly parents.

Can I extend my stay to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in Makkah?

Yes. Our Last 10 Nights packages include an Eid extension option. Performing Eid prayer in Masjid al-Haram on 1 Shawwal  with hundreds of thousands of Muslims after a month of worship in the most sacred place on earth  is a profound conclusion to Ramadan. Ask about Eid extension pricing at the time of booking.

Is Umrah visa available for Ramadan 2027?

Yes. Saudi Arabia issues standard Umrah eVisas for Ramadan. The application process is the same as regular season  passport, photos, meningitis vaccination certificate. We submit all applications and visas are typically returned in 3–7 working days. During peak Ramadan periods, we recommend submitting documents 4 weeks before departure.

I did Ramadan Umrah last year for the first time — 5-star package at Swissotel. I have no words for the last 10 nights in the Haram. The guide took us for Tawaf at 2am and we were there for Fajr as the sun rose over the Kaaba. I wept through the entire Salah. Every Muslim should experience this.
